This is probably one of the most common questions I am asked.
Diet and exercise are both extremely important in your weight loss journey. Good health depends on both as well. This is probably not the answer you wanted to here.
Lots of people workout lots and wonder why their bodies are not changing. There will be changes happening inside related to your fitness, but on the outside not much may be happening. The type of exercise you do will also have a huge effect. How many people do you see at the gym doing endless amounts of 'cardio' on the bike or treadmill and they never look any different. Exercise for weight loss
Once you have your exercise plan in place, you really need to clean up your diet. Basing your meals and snacks around lean meats (grass fed, organic meats don't have to be so lean) and loads of vegetables and fruits will allow you to lean down quickly when combined with the exercise.
